State unveils new Property Mapping application

Category: General
Posted by: administrator
The Comptroller of the Treasury and the Department of Finance and Administration have collaborated on a new publicly available mapping application (tnmap.state.tn.us/assessment/) that provides access to statewide property maps and a host of assessment information. This milestone accomplishment represents a culmination of an eight year effort to map the entire state through the Tennessee Base Mapping Program (TNBMP). The Comptroller's Office is responsible for oversight of the property tax administration process at the State and local level, and has provided public access to assessment data through the "Real Estate Assessment Data" website (www.assessment.state.tn.us/). The new application hosted by F&A in the Office for Information Resources (OIR), GIS Services group, provides a link to the assessment data by publishing digital property maps, imagery, and other data products developed through the base mapping program. This application is part of an overall plan to provide public access to digital map data maintained and administered by multiple State agencies. Branded as the "Tennessee Map" (TNMap), this public portal (tnmap.state.tn.us) provides links to State agency applications hosted by OIR GIS Services and other news and events related to the program. For more information, contact Dennis Pedersen, Director of GIS Services. He can be reached at (615)-741-9356 or via email at dennis.pedersen@state.tn.us
